Peugeot Mopeds: One of the Classics

Peugeot mopeds were one of the first produced mopeds. They boast of more than 70 years of success, having made mopeds since 1932. The moped was born out of need for soldier transportation during the war. Vehicle manufacturers swiftly responded to this demand. The first models were actually motorized bicycles: bicycles with a motor attached at the rear or the front tire to aid the rider with the pedaling.

Later years saw the moped’s rise to fame. Improvements were made to the engine and to the structure and thus became the moped that we know of today. They enjoyed moderate success in the first 7 years, but achieved a new high afterwards when they developed better models.

The success of Peugeot mopeds also relied on the era. Swing was popular in the ‘60s so they made mopeds reminiscent of the time. Those became popular with teenagers.

There probably are newer models out on the market. It is quite challenging to find the price of brand-new units because most websites that sell Peugeot mopeds either sell used ones or use the UK pound as currency. However, the approximate price of a new unit, upon conversion, is $3300. Pre-owned ones, especially older models, go for as low as $700. Spare parts can also be found online.
